يستخدم معظم الناس مؤخراً تطبيقات الهواتف الذكية لإرسال، واستقبال الرسائل، وتدوين المعلومات والأفكار، وبهذا فإنهم قد استغنوا عن استخدام الأوراق التي تساهم بشكل غير مباشر في تدمير البيئة والغابات، كما تتميز الهواتف الذكية الحديثة بقدرتها على توفير الطاقة، حيث إنّ نظام البطاريات الحديث يقلّل من استهلاك الكهرباء، مما يساعد على توفير الطاقة. تعدّ الهواتف المحمولة الحديثة وسيلةً ترفيهية، حيث يمكن من خلالها تشغيل بعض برامج الموسيقى التي تسمح للأشخاص بسماع الأغاني، وتسجيل أصواتهم، بالإضافة إلى تشغيل الفيديوهات التي تتيح للناس فرصة مشاهدة الأفلام، والفيديوهات القصيرة أثناء التنقل، مما يساعد على ترفيه الشخص لنفسه.[٢]
